Health Insurance

All international students coming to the University of Toronto are required to purchase health insurance in the form of the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP). This is a "universal coverage" plan which attempts to maintain reasonable rates by requiring that all international students enrol. Therefore, as an exchange student at U of T, you will be required to pay for UHIP coverage regardless of any other coverage that you may have.

The cost for UHIP is based on the number of months that you will be studying at the University of Toronto. For 2012-13, the premium for a single student is $57.00 per month.

Please Note: Exchange students are not automatically enrolled in a supplementary insurance plan for additional coverage such as prescription drugs or dental maintenance. Most U of T students pay for this supplementary insurance through their tuition fees; however, exchange students are not eligible for this plan.
