Accessibility
Do you require accommodation for an accessibility concern? CIE is ready to help.
If you are planning on attending a workshop, accessing a service or if you have a meeting with a CIE officer, please notify us in advance of the appointment so that we can do our best to make that service or meeting accessible.
If you are interested in participating in a program abroad, our office is happy to help you find an institution that best fits your needs. If you have registered with U of T’s Accessibility Services, we will try to provide similar accommodation at our partner institution. Not every institution will be able to meet your accommodation requirements, but we can direct you to the institutions that can. You are encouraged to contact CIE well before you apply for a program, so that we can communicate with our partners to ensure a solid understanding of what types of accommodation are actually available. It helps to make the whole process smoother if you are able to provide a letter from your Accessibility Officer, detailing the accommodations that you receive here at U of T. This way we can match accommodations and help you to create a plan for going abroad.
Please note that prior to going on any U of T sponsored international activity, all students are required to sign a Terms of Participation form declaring that they have the level of mental and physical fitness necessary for the activity. The Safety Abroad Office can assist you in developing strategies and accommodations to make participation in your program of choice possible.
Sometimes it helps to talk to other exchange students when you are deciding where to go. Join our Facebook page so that you can connect to other students who have been abroad.
