INFORMATION SESSION FOR  FALL POSITIONS:

Deadline July. 26th 2013, 4:00pm, submit digitally or to the Global Lounge at CIE

Eligibility:

  • You must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident
  • You must gain credit for your time abroad (typically students propose an independent research project to a professor)
  • You must be a returning student for at least one semester

Check the SFD guidelines to see if you are eligible to participate.

How it works:

In the past SFD had students write individual applications for CIDA priority countries. Since 2011 the program has changed and we have partnered with specific NGO's so that students to ensure students are connecting with NGO's that will give them the best internship experience. Moreover, these partnerships help build capacity at the NGO's themselves, providing continuity between projects and interns. Student can still apply for an individual or non-structured internship, but it is more highly competitive and we cannot guarantee when the AUCC (who funds SFD) will approve the proposal.

Who are our partners for the structured or group internships?

We have three NGO's that we have partnered with and potentially another one that will be announced in the new year.

Currently our partners are:

We are encouraging students to research or inquire about these three institutions if they are interested in applying for the Students for Development program.

Special Note:

If you are a student from St. Michael's College, Trinity College or Victoria College, you are particularly encouraged to apply to the structured SFD program as there are specific placements reserved for students form these colleges.

If you have any questions, please contact Julienne Lottering.

Please also note: If you are accepted to participate in one of U of T’s international internship programs, you will be required to attend a Pre-Departure Orientation Session. This is a mandatory training session for all students going abroad through a U of T program. Please see the Student Workshops page of this website for the dates of upcoming sessions.
